Workshop on Computational Models in Biology and Medicine 2023
The joint workshop of the GMDS/IBS-DR working groups "Mathematical Models in Medicine and Biology" and "Statistical Methods in Bioinformatics" will take place
on June 15 - 16 in Stuttgart
(start June 15 at 12 pm, end June 16 at 2 pm)
Support
The workshop is funded by the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (GMDS)", the "Deutsche Region der Internationalen Biometrischen Gesellschaft (IBS-DR)" and the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2075 "Data-Integrated Simulation Science (SimTech)".
Workshop outline
This workshop intends to bring together researchers from different research areas such as systems biology, bioinformatics and biostatistics, who are interested in modelling and analysis of biological systems or in the development of statistical methods with applications in biology and medicine.
Topics
- FAIR model and data principles
- Genomics and proteomics
- Single-cell data analysis
- Statistical modeling and machine learning
- Dynamical modeling in health and disease
The short program is available here and a comprehensive program including all abstracts to talks and posters is available here.
Keynote speakers
- Lars Kaderali (University of Greifswald, Institute for Bioinformatics, Greifswald, Germany)
- Matthias König (Humboldt-University Berlin, Institute for Theoretical Biology, Berlin, Germany)
- Jana Wolf (Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), Berlin, Germany)
- Achim Tresch (University of Cologne, Institute of Medical Statistics and Computational Biolog , Cologne, Germany)
Registration
You can submit an abstract for oral or poster submission until 14/04/2023. For registration and abstract submission click here.
Workshop venue
The workshop takes place at the University of Stuttgart Campus Vaihingen, Universitätsstraße 32, 70569 Stuttgart.
The campus of the university of stuttgart is about 9 km from the city centre, but can be reached in a few minutes by S-Bahn. We therefore recommend booking accommodation in the city centre with good train connections. Convenient S-Bahn stations are Hauptbahnhof, Stadtmitte, Feuersee or Schwabstraße.
Organization
The workshop is jointly organized by the GMDS/IBS working groups "Mathematical Models in Medicine and Biology" (speakers: Nicole Radde, University of Stuttgart; Ingmar Glauche, Technische Universität Dresden) and "Statistical Methods in Bioinformatics" (speakers: Michael Altenbuchinger, University Medical Center Göttingen; Tim, Kacprowski, Technical University of Braunschweig; Markus Wolfien, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, Germany).
