Young talent awards
Promoting scientific young talents is one of the major aims of the German Region of the International Biometric Society. The German Region thus offers the following two young talent awards:
- the Bernd Streitberg Award for persons without a PhD for an outstanding biometrical thesis.
- the Gustav Adolf Lienert Award for members of the IBS-DR who do not hold a PhD or who have recently completed a PhD for an outstanding biometrical paper published in an international peer-reviewed journal
The awards are assigned for excellent biometric achievements made by the applicants themselves or in primary responsibility in Germany or abroad provided that the respective applicant has the German nationality.
Bernd Streitberg Award
Biometric theses (BSc, MSc or comparable paper) that were submitted no more than 18 months before October 31st of the year of application are eligible for the Bernd Streitberg Award.
Gustav Adolf Lienert Award
Publications in international peer-reviewed journals that are no more than two years old on October 31st of the year of application are eligible for the Gustav Adolf Lienert Award. The applicant must be a member of the German Region of the IBS at the time of application. The applicant must either not have a PhD or have received it less than 3 years ago on October 31st of the year of application (deadline: viva voce).

Application
Early career researchers who do not meet this time limit are also encouraged to apply, provided that personal circumstances have led to a corresponding delay in their academic career. This may include, for example, care time spent raising children or caring for relatives.
Applicants are asked to submit their application to the President of the German Region, Prof. Dr. Anne-Laure Boulesteix, via E-Mail to boulesteix@ibe.med.uni-muenchen.de, by October 31.
